ABOUT POPPY FIELD (STANDARD TUNING)
I wrote Poppy Field for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival video. Why not call the song Tulip Field? Around the time I was writing the guitar line, I watched The Wizard of OZ for the first time in years. I enjoyed the scene when Dorothy heads off into the poppy field with her new friends. Their ambition turns into sleepiness (due to the opiate in the poppy). This song attempts to capture that same “feel.” It’s upbeat and travelling, but it pulls back as sleepiness occurs. Sorry for the long explanation, but there you go. 🙂
